Overview

This is a self-hosted instance of the Zubayr's Finance personal finance application, operated solely for personal use. This policy describes how financial data is collected, used, and protected.

Data We Collect

When you connect a financial institution through Plaid, we receive:

  • Account information (names, types, balances)
  • Transaction history (dates, amounts, merchant names, categories)
  • Investment holdings and securities data
  • Liability details (loan balances, interest rates)

We also collect basic account information you provide during registration (name, email, password).

How We Use Your Data

Your financial data is used exclusively to:

  • Display your accounts, balances, and transactions
  • Generate financial reports and insights
  • Track net worth and spending over time

Your data is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising.

Third-Party Services

This application integrates with Plaid to securely connect to financial institutions. Plaid's use of your data is governed by the Plaid End User Privacy Policy.

Bank credentials are never stored in this application. Authentication is handled entirely by Plaid using secure tokenized access.

Data Storage & Security

  • All data is stored in an encrypted PostgreSQL database
  • Plaid access tokens are encrypted at rest using Rails ActiveRecord Encryption
  • All connections use TLS 1.2 or higher
  • The application is hosted on secure, access-controlled infrastructure

Data Retention & Deletion

You may disconnect any financial institution at any time, which revokes the Plaid access token and removes associated data. You may also delete your account entirely, which permanently removes all stored data.

Consent

By connecting a financial institution through this application, you explicitly consent to the collection and processing of your financial data as described above. You may withdraw consent at any time by disconnecting your accounts.
